Baseball Recap: Elizabeth Forward Triumphs

Elizabeth Forward hadn't done well against West Mifflin recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Titans 8-7. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Titans on Monday, they had to take a 14-9 defeat.

Elizabeth Forward got a massive performance out of Landon Jackson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Jackson a new career-high. AJ Grese was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Elizabeth Forward is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for West Mifflin, the loss snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 14-4 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Elizabeth Forward will take on rival Uniontown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, West Mifflin is set to challenge their familiar foe Belle Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.8, the Leopards 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
