Basketball Recap: Elyas Miro's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kings Christian over Exeter

Kings Christian entered their contest against Exeter on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Kings Christian Crusaders fell 63-52 to the Exeter Monarchs. If the Crusaders were looking for revenge after losing 39-34 to them when the teams met back in December of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elyas Miro, who posted 18 points and four steals. Miro is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Luke Uphoff also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Kings Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Exeter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aden Plyman out in front who went 6 for 15 on his way to 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Blaine Mcfall, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Kings Christian suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 22-5. As for Exeter, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-6.

Looking ahead, Kings Christian will be playing at home against Wonderful College Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kings Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season. As for Exeter, they have already played their next matchup, a 61-41 win against Washington Union on the 6th.
