Basketball Recap: Sylus Cory Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hagerty

Harmony won the last time they faced Hagerty and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Harmony Longhorns walked away with a 58-49 victory over the Hagerty Huskies. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Huskies are ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harmony to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sylus Cory, who went 10 of 18 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. The match was Cory's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Ramos, who posted 15 points and six assists.

Despite the defeat, Hagerty had strong showings from Mason Morrow, who put up 15 points, and Asa Kohn, who had 11 points. Those 15 points gave Morrow a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaac Lopez, who posted four points and nine rebounds.

Harmony's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-4. As for Hagerty, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Harmony will host Melbourne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Melbourne has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 171 points over their last three contests. As for Hagerty, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 83-70 loss against Seminole on the 18th.
