Baseball Recap: St. Dominic Comes Up Short on the Road Against Old Orchard Beach

St. Dominic had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls by a score of 7-6. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Seagulls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Logan Leclair put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Leclair was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Curtis Wheeler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Ben Dumais was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Dominic will welcome Buckfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Old Orchard Beach, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Waynflete at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Seagulls' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
