Softball Recap: Dawson Bulldogs vs. Hico Tigers

Dawson extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 13-15. They lost 17-6 to the Hico Tigers. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Brynlee WIlliams and Kenna Stoker did some serious damage despite the final result: WIlliams went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles, while Stoker went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Stoker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tattum Hill, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Hico, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games.

On Hico's side, Mikaelynn Miles was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Miles has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Hico got a big performance out of Zulema Silva, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abella Garza, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
