The second-longest losing streak in Texas high school football history is over. Diamond Hill-Jarvis (Fort Worth, Texas) won its opener 40-12 on Thursday over Conrad (Dallas), snapping a skid of 77 games.

Eddrick Hampton was the catalyst in the victory, going off for 151 rushing yards, 94 receiving yards and an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

The win snaps what is believed to be the longest losing streak in the nation. The Eagles' last win came more than 1,900 days prior, a 31-7 victory over Jefferson (Dallas) on Sept. 18, 2010.

“I’m just proud of these boys,” Eagles coach Oscar Castillo told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I told them to listen to the people that cared about you and themselves and not all the outside stuff. I just hope they take that with them beyond this.”

The Eagles' losing skid is second longest in Texas state history, trailing only Jefferson Davis (Houston), according to Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine. Jefferson Davis lost straight 80 games from 1985 to 1993.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis was dominant in its first win in nearly a decade, outgaining Conrad 383-240 and leading 34-0 after three quarters.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis looks to make it two wins in a row on Sept. 7 against North Dallas (Dallas).
