Baseball Recap: Jones Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Jones came into Monday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Solorio Sun Warriors by a score of 7-2 on Monday. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Sun Warriors, too.

Jones got a great performance from Gabe Manier as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Manier is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ellis Alexander, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Jones: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Haruska, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Jones' win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Solorio, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Jones will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sun Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
