Baseball Game Preview: Dos Pueblos Chargers vs. Atascadero Greyhounds

The Dos Pueblos Chargers will challenge the Atascadero Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dos Pueblos will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Dos Pueblos' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Pleasant Valley 10-0.

The team relied heavily on Zach Gesswein, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Stone Saunders, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Atascadero's offense. They lost 10-0 to Millikan on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Greyhounds' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Dos Pueblos has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Atascadero, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Dos Pueblos beat Atascadero 5-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
