Softball Recap: Gibbs Now 19-1 over Last 20 Games

Gibbs put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let the Anderson County Mavericks get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won 23 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Shelby Williams, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Baker, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Gibbs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson County only posted a batting average of .118.

Gibbs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Anderson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 24-14.

Looking ahead, Gibbs will square off against Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Seymour has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.14 runs per game on average), something Gibbs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Anderson County, they are taking a road trip to take on Cocke County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Cocks will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Mavericks surely won't give up without a fight.
