Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Wildcats vs. Cardinal Newman Cardinals

The Lexington Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Cardinal Newman Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Lexington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Lexington's tournament run continued when they took on Lugoff-Elgin on Monday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Demons.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Cardinal Newman was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They lost 16-0 to Miller School of Albemarle. The game marked the first time this season in which the Cardinals were not able to get on the board.

Lexington pushed their record up to 11-6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cardinal Newman, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.

Lexington took their victory against Cardinal Newman in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
