Recap: Horizon Hawks vs. Loveland Red Wolves

The Horizon Hawks waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They really took it to Loveland for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-20 victory at home. That 54 points margin sets a new team best for Horizon this season.

Horizon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Morgan Ives, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Madyn Kassatly was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five steals.

Despite the defeat, Loveland saw an underclassman step up: Courtlyn Yaussi scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. Yaussi is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Horizon pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Loveland, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon will take on Monarch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Monarch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for Loveland, they will be playing at home against Fort Collins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Fort Collins presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Loveland in Colorado (Fort Collins is ranked 17th, while Loveland is ranked 180th).
