Ty Storey of Charleston (Ark.) is the Small Schools Player of the Year. Matt Gallagher of Maine-Endwell (N.Y.) is Coach of the Year.
In a year with many worthy candidates for Small Schools All-American Player of the Year, Ty Storey of Charleston (Ark.) stood out above the rest.
Despite playing in one of the smallest classifications in the state of Arkansas, Storey was named the Gatorade State Player of the Year for the second-straight season. He's already enrolled at Arkansas after graduating early from Charleston, where he led the Tigers to two straight Class 3A state championships and 29 straight wins.
Storey also has the numbers. In throwing for 4,159 yards this year, Storey became just the seventh high school quarterback in history to throw for over 4,000 yards in three different seasons. His 12,860 career yards rank third in state history while his 897 completions rank second, his 1,370 attempts rank third and his 154 touchdown passes rank second.
"Ty is such a special player," said Charleston coach Greg Kendrick. "He understands that he was gifted by God in terms of his physical stature and abilities, but there is so much more that makes him a great football player and person. His work ethic, leadership ability, love of the game and time spent polishing his craft are second to none."

Storey edges out three record-setting players in Mason Fine of Locust Grove (Okla.), Dominick Bragalone of South Williamsport (Pa.) and Kellen Overstreet of Penney (Mo.). Fine set the Oklahoma state record for touchdown passes in a season with 71 and in a career with 113. He still has his senior season left to play. He also became the first Oklahoma quarterback to throw for over 4,000 yards in a season, finishing with 5,006.
Bragalone nearly broke the national record for rushing yards in a season, as he averaged 14 yards a carry in gaining 4,706 yards on the year. Meanwhile, Overstreet reportedly broke dozens of state records in racking up 4,259 rushing yards and finishing with 70 overall touchdowns - just one off the national record for a single season.
Matt Gallagher of
Maine-Endwell (Endwell, N.Y.) is the Small Schools Coach of the Year after winning a fourth-straight Class B state championship in New York. The Spartans defeated Schalmont (Schenectady, N.Y.) 27-19 in the championship game with Gallagher's son Adam returning an interception and fumble recovery for touchdowns to earn game MVP honors.
Gallagher's teams have won 51 straight games in winning the four championships. The streak is the third-longest active streak in the nation entering the 2015 season.
The MaxPreps Small Schools All-American Team consists of players from schools that play in state enrollment divisions that generally have fewer than 1,000 students.
