Football Recap: Sevier County Find Success

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Sevier County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Greeneville Greene Devils, sneaking past 30-27. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Smoky Bears have posted since November 15, 2024.

Bryson Headrick was the offensive standout of the contest as he picked up 59 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Nathan Patterson handled things on the ground, rushing for 96 yards.

Sevier County's record now sits at 5-0. As for Greeneville, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Sevier County and Greeneville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Smoky Bears (ranked 18th) will meet Cocke County (ranked 279th) at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. Meanwhile, Greeneville will challenge Cherokee at 7:00 p.m. on October 3 with a big rank advantage (37 vs. 155).
