Basketball Game Preview: Webster Bearcats vs. Great Plains Lutheran Panthers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Webster Bearcats challenge the Great Plains Lutheran Panthers at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday... Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Saturday, Webster took a blow against Madison, falling 80-40. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Great Plains Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Elkton/Lake Benton, falling 68-47. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Elks are ranked 34th).

Webster will have to contain Micah Holien as he made an impact in Great Plains Lutheran's last game. He posted 16 points. Thad Kratz was another key player, putting up six points.

Great Plains Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Webster, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Webster was able to grind out a solid victory over Great Plains Lutheran when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 72-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Webster since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
