Softball Recap: Washington Academy Beats Foxcroft Academy for Their Third Straight Victory

Washington Academy extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 4-1 in the process. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Foxcroft Academy Ponies. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 last Friday.

Bella Cirone was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That hit marked the first that she has got this season.

Cirone wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Libby, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Libby is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another was Grace Howard, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Foxcroft Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since May 4, 2024.

On Foxcroft Academy's side, Lili Bisson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks.
