Basketball Game Preview: Springfield Cosmos vs. Twin Valley Wildcats

The Springfield Cosmos will take on the Twin Valley Wildcats in a holiday battle at at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Springfield is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. The game between them and Otter Valley didn't end well, with Springfield falling 56-41.

Meanwhile, Twin Valley entered their tilt with Bellows Falls on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They secured a 59-53 W over the Terriers. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly six points.

Twin Valley found their leader in sophomore Brayden Brown, who went 12 for 20 on his way to 32 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Twin Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Gerding, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Springfield couldn't quite finish off Twin Valley when the teams last played back in January and fell 54-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brown, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 24 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Now that Springfield knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
