Basketball Recap: Holdrege Skates Past Southern Valley with Ease

Holdrege won the last time they faced Southern Valley and things went their way on Friday too. The Holdrege Dusters took their contest with ease, bagging an 89-29 win over the Southern Valley Eagles. The Dusters have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Holdrege to victory were Garret Johnson and Baron Medina. Johnson went 9 for 13 on his way to 21 points and five steals, while Medina went 8 of 11 en route to 22 points and five steals. Johnson's evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Moon, who posted eight points and five assists.

Holdrege was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Holdrege pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for Southern Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Holdrege didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-52 win against Kearney Catholic on the 21st. Southern Valley has also already played their next contest, a 54-44 defeat against Southwest on the 18th.
