Recap: Custer County Bobcats vs. Lamar Thunder
The Custer County Bobcats were the 72-39 winner over the Lamar Thunder when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Custer County was beaten by Lamar 55-18 on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Custer County has scored all season.
Custer County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Mullett, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Lamar found their leader in underclassman Gabrian Jacobs, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jacobs has scored all season. Austin Thacker was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Custer County dropped their record down to 4-4 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Lamar, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Custer County will take on Cotopaxi at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cotopaxi is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Lamar, they will play host again and welcome St. Mary's, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Mary's is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
