Soccer Game Preview: Independence vs. Butler + How To Watch

The Independence Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Butler Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.

On Thursday, Independence needed a bit of extra time to put away North Mecklenburg. They had just enough and edged out the Vikings 2-1. Even though Independence got in a bit of trouble with the refs ( Mark Verret was handed a red card), the team managed to overcome the adversity.

Jackson Finney and Dennis Sanchez scored both of Independence's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 20 goals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Butler was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Independence, falling 5-0. Both teams had to tread carefully at times as the refs weren't afraid to hand out yellow cards: Villy Verenchuk was handed one for Butler, while Independence got theirs courtesy of Parker McNeeley.

The victory made it two in a row for Independence and bumps their season record up to 13-4. As for Butler, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13-2 record this season.

Everything went Independence's way against Butler in their previous matchup on Wednesday, as Independence made off with a 5-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
