Basketball Game Preview: Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk vs. Roxbury Prep Charter Wolves

After both having extra time off, the Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk and the Roxbury Prep Charter Wolves will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Innovation Academy will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Friday, Innovation Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 62-57 to Nashoba Valley Tech.

Innovation Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elijah Vega, who went 10 for 22 on his way to 27 points and four steals, and Bryce Kankam, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. The game was Kankam's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordy Pe?a-Lugo, who posted two points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Roxbury Prep Charter might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Boston Latin Academy an easy 64-42 win. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Dragons recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Innovation Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Roxbury Prep Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Innovation Academy was taken down by Roxbury Prep Charter 85-53 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Innovation Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
