Baseball Recap: Blue River Valley Comes Up Short at Home Against Monroe Central

Blue River Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 11-4 to the Monroe Central Golden Bears on Thursday. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Blue River Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was EVAN ZENTZ, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. JONNY HOWE was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win was the third in a row for Monroe Central, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue River Valley is headed away from home for the first time to take on Cambridge City Lincoln at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Monroe Central, they will challenge Alexandria-Monroe at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
