Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Watterson Eagles vs. Bishop Hartley Hawks

Bishop Watterson is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Bishop Hartley is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Bishop Watterson Eagles take on the Bishop Hartley Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Bishop Watterson beat Jonathan Alder 52-43. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Pioneers are ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bishop Hartley greeted the New Year with with a 67-48 win over Eastmoor Academy. The Hawks pushed the score to 56-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.

Bishop Hartley's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Bishop Watterson, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Bishop Watterson beat Bishop Hartley 42-33 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Bishop Watterson repeat their success, or does Bishop Hartley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
