Basketball Recap: Belen Victorious

Belen won the last time they faced Moriarty and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Belen Eagles slipped by the Moriarty Pintos 33-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Belen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alyssa Trujillo, who posted seven points and six steals. Trujillo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke De Leon, who earned four points and five rebounds.

Belen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Belen's record now sits at 7-8. As for Moriarty, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Belen will face off against Los Lunas at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th. Los Lunas will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Belen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Moriarty, they will be taking part in a tournament against Santa Rosa at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
