Basketball Recap: The Covenant Skates Past Liberty Christian with Ease

The Covenant won against Matoaca last Monday with 63 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. The Covenant Eagles breezed by the Liberty Christian Bulldogs to the tune of 63-30. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.

The Covenant's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Delaney Poindexter, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 12 points in addition to six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cece Corbey, who posted 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

The victory made it two in a row for The Covenant and bumps their season record up to 15-5. As for Liberty Christian, they moved to 13-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

The Covenant has already played their next match, a 48-37 defeat against Carlisle on the 6th. As for Liberty Christian, they will welcome Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
