Otter Valley faced Hartford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Otters put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 9-3 win. Considering the Otters have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophie Parker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Leann Thomas was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Hannah Desabrais was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Otter Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
