Softball Game Preview: Sudan Hornets vs. Tahoka Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Sudan will face off against Tahoka. The Hornets will square off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sudan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.

Sudan heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They fell just short of Tahoka by a score of 6-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Danielle Mitchell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Haylee Toscano was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Daniella Ramirez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Tahoka is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Sudan, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12-1.
