Basketball Recap: Merrillville Wins Going Away Against Hanover Central

On Friday, the Merrillville Pirates were able to grind out a solid win over the Hanover Central Wildcats, taking the game 60-52. That looming 60-52 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pirates yet this season.

Merrillville found their leader in freshman Charles Hardiman, who went 8 of 13 en route to 21 points. Hardiman's morning made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rodrick Durant-Hicks, who posted six points and four steals.

Merrillville's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Hanover Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Merrillville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-40 defeat against Portage on the 28th. As for Hanover Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-45 loss against Greensburg on the 28th.
