League recap: Thompson breaks off league-leading run for King City

King City's Trey Thompson rumbled for the longest rushing play in Grand River this season in his game against Maysville last week. Thompson scampered for 80 yards on the play and finished with 201 on the day as his team defeated the Wolverines.

Caleb Eiberger and John Spiking provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Maysville. The connection went for 91 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.

South Harrison's dynamic duo of Dylan Heitz and Kaid Hendren proved tough for Gallatin to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Heitz threw for 305 yards and two touchdowns and Hendren had 202 yards receiving. Tyler O'Neal helped South Harrison's passing attack out by catching five balls for 56 yards.

The Bulldogs' Heitz and Hendren have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Heitz has thrown for 920 yards this season, while Hendren has 28 catches for 516 yards. Thompson from King City leads the league in rushing with 841 yards.

A big matchup in Grand River this week will be when Polo takes on EDWARD FRY's team. At the moment, the Panthers are in fourth, while the Wolverines are in second.

Micah Breckenridge's team was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Wildkats defeated Maysville 18-7.
