Basketball Game Preview: Brunswick Pirates vs. Memorial Day Matadors + How To Watch

The Brunswick Pirates will head out to square off against the Memorial Day Matadors at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Memorial Day took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Brunswick, who comes in off a win.

Brunswick was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Effingham County on Tuesday. The Pirates blew past the Rebels 63-31. The Pirates pushed the score to 53-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rebels had little chance of recovering from.

AJ Levros had an outrageously good game as he dropped a double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds. Gavin Creel was another key player, shooting 56% from the field to rack up 13 points and five boards.

Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Memorial Day lost 65-40 to Coastal HomeSchool on Thursday. The Matadors have struggled against the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Brunswick will need to focus on slowing down Lake Mills, one of several Memorial Day players who made an impact when they last played. He posted nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jobari Sellers, who had 11 points.

The victory got Brunswick back to even at 1-1. As for Memorial Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
