Harnett Central has won ten straight games at home, while South View has won ten straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Trojans will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m.
Harnett Central is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Union Pines just ended the team's nine-match winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 3-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
While Harnett Central ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-19.
Allie Williams put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had seven digs and two aces.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, South View rose to the challenge on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Falcons.
South View had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 26-28, 25-15, 25-9, 25-19.
South View found their leader in sophomore Aliya Hall, who had 19 kills.
They weren't the only good servers: South View was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 30 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
South View's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Harnett Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-4.
Harnett Central was able to grind out a solid win over South View in their previous meeting back in September of 2021, winning 3-1. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Tigers' Brooke Bombatepe, who had 22 assists and 12 digs.
