Baseball Recap: Princeton's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

Princeton won the last time they faced Ottawa and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers walked away with a 12-9 victory over the Pirates. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Ace Christiansen was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Stihl Brokaw and Jordan Reinhardt did most of the damage at the plate: Brokaw went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Reinhardt went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Reinhardt has become a key player for Princeton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 8-11-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Kloepping, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Princeton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Princeton's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-12-1. As for Ottawa, their loss dropped their record down to 15-14.

Looking ahead, Princeton will look to defend their home field on Monday against Kewanee at 4:30 p.m. The Boilermakers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.9 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ottawa, they will venture away from home to take on Plano at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Reapers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
