Basketball Recap: Centerville Comes Up Short

Centerville lost against St. Ignatius back in March of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Centerville Elks took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Ignatius Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Wildcats are ranked first).

St. Ignatius' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damon Friery, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. What's more, Friery also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Quinn Woidke, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points and five assists.

Centerville's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for St. Ignatius, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Centerville has already played their next game (against Reynoldsburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Ignatius has also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Archbishop Moeller.
