Basketball Recap: George West Beats Mathis for Their Second Straight Victory

If Mathis wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played George West, they should've done a better job of containing Tristen Blevins. The George West Longhorns strolled past the Mathis Pirates with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 64-45 thanks in part to Blevins, who went 13 of 19 en route to 33 points along with five assists and five boards. His evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The victory made it two in a row for George West and bumps their season record up to 16-14. As for Mathis, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

George West will head out to face off against Aransas Pass at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Aransas Pass knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully George West likes a good challenge. As for Mathis, they will welcome Taft at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
