Softball Game Preview: Weaver Bearcats vs. Ranburne Bulldogs

The Weaver Bearcats will face off against the Ranburne Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Weaver will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Weaver turned things around against Wellborn on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 14-6 victory. The Bearcats not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 16-7).

Reyleigh Partner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Coleman, who fired off two home runs and nine RBI while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Shirvinski, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Weaver lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Ranburne was able to grind out a solid win over Cleburne County on Friday, taking the game 6-3. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

K.K. Rollins was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Aubie Rollins, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Weaver's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Ranburne, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.
