Baseball Game Preview: Cyprus Pirates vs. Hunter Wolverines

For the second straight game, Cyprus will face off against Hunter. The Pirates will square off against the Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cyprus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Cyprus took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Hunter a 17-0 shutout. Considering the Pirates have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cyprus got a massive performance out of Reiner Hidalgo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Hidalgo also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Easton Anderson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Cyprus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunter only posted an OBP of .143.

Cyprus pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Hunter, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Hunter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cyprus has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .497. It's a different story for Hunter, though, as they've only averaged .297.
