Baseball Recap: Neuqua Valley Has No Trouble Against Waubonsie Valley

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley, and Neuqua Valley kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats blew past the Warriors 10-4 on Monday. That looming 10-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Neuqua Valley got a great performance from Jack Martin as he tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joe Barkley, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Neuqua Valley is undefeated when Barkley posts one or more home runs, but 5-8-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Barkley, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Neuqua Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Waubonsie Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Neuqua Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
