Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Salinas

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Salinas ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They beat the Vacaville Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys.

Abi Jones looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Salinas' win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kelsie Domenighini, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double. Lily Munoz also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Salinas pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Vacaville, they moved to 14-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Salinas has already played their next contest, a 6-2 defeat against Notre Dame (SO) on the 26th. As for Vacaville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 15-2 victory against Oakdale on the 26th.
