Baseball Recap: Schuylkill Valley Comes Up Short

Schuylkill Valley had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-13 to make it six. They came up short against the Berks Catholic Saints, falling 13-6. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Saints earlier this season, when they won 5-1.

Schuylkill Valley saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Salinger Kehs-Rossi, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Tristan Goda was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

As for Berks Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

On Berks Catholic's side, Mikey Fidler was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Fidler is becoming a predictor of the Saints' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brock Shrawder, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Schuylkill Valley will face off against Pottstown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Berks Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
