Baseball Game Preview: Apple Springs Eagles vs. Zavalla Eagles

Apple Springs will head out on the road to challenge Zavalla at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Apple Springs nor Zavalla posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Friday, Apple Springs came up short against Brookeland and fell 5-1.

Zeth Dugat spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Zavalla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 13-1 to Chester.

Zavalla saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layne Jarman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Apple Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Zavalla, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything went Apple Springs' way against Zavalla when the teams last played on Monday, as Apple Springs made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Apple Springs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
