Basketball Recap: Agua Fria Comes Up Short

Agua Fria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 71-45 to the Deer Valley Skyhawks. The Owls were not able to make up for their defeat to the Skyhawks from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Loss or not, Agua Fria got some senior leadership from Bryan Burrows and Micah Mccalla. Burrows went 5 for 8 en route to 14 points, while Mccalla posted 13 points. That's the most points Burrows has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elijah May, who had six points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Agua Fria smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Agua Fria's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Deer Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Agua Fria will welcome Cactus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Agua Fria is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season. As for Deer Valley, they will host Westview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Deer Valley likes a good challenge.
