Basketball Recap: Perry Comes Up Short + How To Watch

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-37, which was the final score in the Perry Pumas's tilt against the Rangeview Raiders on Friday.

Several Pumas players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JJ Howard, who posted 16 points and seven boards. That was a full 43.2% of Perry's points, marking the fourth time in a row Howard has had more than a third of the team's points. Jayden Cunningham was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Rangeview was led to victory by Archie Weatherspoon V and Marceles Duncan. Weatherspoon V shot 56% from the field on his way to 34 points and seven boards, while Duncan dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds. Those 34 points gave Weatherspoon V a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Andrew, who earned five points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Perry's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Rangeview, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Perry will face off against Cesar Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pumas will be up against the Champions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Rangeview, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-65 victory against Ironwood on the 6th.
