Basketball Recap: Kamryn Locklear Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Douglas Byrd

After losing to Douglas Byrd the last time they met, Purnell Swett decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Purnell Swett Rams took down the Douglas Byrd Eagles 57-39 on Tuesday.

Purnell Swett's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamryn Locklear led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Locklear a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Mckinney, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

When it comes to explaining why Douglas Byrd lost, don't look at Jazmine Burns. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-15 en route to 19 points and six blocks. Burns has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last ten times she's played.

Purnell Swett picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-18. As for Douglas Byrd, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-14.
