Baseball Game Preview: Prestonsburg Blackcats vs. Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers

The Prestonsburg Blackcats will take on the Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Prestonsburg picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over Holy Cross. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blackcats.

Blake Waller tossed a big game, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Prestonsburg is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-19 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Barrett Hunter was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Pleasure Ridge Park came tearing into Saturday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Colonels with a sharp 14-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 21 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Pleasure Ridge Park's win was their 41st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 31-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Prestonsburg, their win bumped their record up to 10-20.
