Softball Recap: Santiam Takes a Loss

Santiam came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Heppner/Ione Mustangs by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The match marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Boston Flores put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Santiam dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Heppner/Ione, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Santiam will face off against Lowell at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Heppner/Ione, they will host Umatilla at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
