Basketball Recap: Rickards Takes Down Bishop Kenny in a Playoff Battle

Rickards extended their postseason success on Friday against Bishop Kenny. They came out on top against the Bishop Kenny Crusaders by a score of 39-31. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Rickards' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Genesis Henry, who posted 18 points and six rebounds. Henry has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Amirahs Hayes was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Rickards smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 21 consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Bishop Kenny saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kathleen Crawley went 6-for-15 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Baker, who earned seven points and ten rebounds.

Rickards' win bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Bishop Kenny, their loss dropped their record down to 25-5.

Rickards will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on American Heritage at 1:00 p.m. on March 4th. American Heritage will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Rickards surely won't give up without a fight. Bishop Kenny does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
