After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bristol, Dock Mennonite was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Delaware County Christian Knights. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 11 runs or more this season.
Avery Kutzner made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Kutzner was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Dana Delamater was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Taelyn Landis was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Dock Mennonite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Dock Mennonite's record now sits at 4-2. As for Delaware County Christian, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Looking ahead, Dock Mennonite will face off against The Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Delaware County Christian, they will challenge Plumstead Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Plumstead Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.25 runs per game on average), something Delaware County Christian will no doubt try to take advantage of.
