Baseball Recap: Dumont Takes a Loss

Dumont had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it seven. They fell 9-4 to the Fort Lee Bridgemen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 4-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Dumont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Martin, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Fort Lee, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

On Fort Lee's side, Gabriel Garcia tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Garcia has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chris Kim, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Jeremiah Marrero was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Dumont will challenge Saddle Brook at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Lee will be paying especially close attention to the Huskies' contest: after the Huskies face off against the Falcons, they'll take on Fort Lee again at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
