Volleyball Recap: Walnut Grove Comes Up Short

Walnut Grove saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Byron Nelson Bobcat.

While Walnut Grove ultimately came up short, they really made Byron Nelson work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-17.

Danielle Whitmire paced Walnut Grove's offense, picking up six kills. Whitmire really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with nine. Finally, Haylee Claypoole kept Walnut Grove's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Savannah Sterna went supernova For Byron Nelson., getting 13 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Sterna a new career-high.

Walnut Grove's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Byron Nelson, the win keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.

Looking ahead, Walnut Grove will take on Rockwall-Heath at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Byron Nelson, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Highland Park on the 23rd.
