Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Cougar vs. Shining Light Academy Knights

The Calvary Christian Cougar will head out to challenge the Shining Light Academy Knights at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Calvary Christian has five straight victories, Shining Light Academy has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Calvary Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Woodland Baptist Christian by a score of 62-52 on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Cougar have won by exactly ten points.

Meanwhile, Shining Light Academy played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 59-17 loss at the hands of Woodland Baptist Christian. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 605th, while the Eagles are ranked 212th).

Shining Light Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Calvary Christian, their win bumped their record up to 16-7.

Everything came up roses for Calvary Christian against Shining Light Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2019, as the team secured a 57-14 victory. In that game, Calvary Christian amassed a halftime lead of 36-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
