Volleyball Recap: Columbiana Starts Season with Victory at Home

Columbiana gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Heartland Christian Lions by a score of 3-1. The Clippers haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

While Columbiana might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Heartland Christian scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22.

Landry Smith paced Columbiana's offense, picking up 15 kills. Smith got some help from Eva Waller and her 23 assists. Waller was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Columbiana is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on David Anderson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Clippers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Heartland Christian, they will take on Mathews at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
